Critical reflection

Module learning Writing has been one of my weaker points since I started secondary school. For the longest time, being able to write well seemed like an unattainable goal for me. With many of my peers seemingly able to write well naturally, I believed it to be a natural talent. Only during this module did I realize how naive that mindset was. Throughout the trimester, with much practice in academic writing, alongside additional resources and methods taught in class, I found that my writing has already substantially improved, proving that writing was not just a natural skill but something I can improve. Another revelation for me in this module was the different requirements for different reports. Initially, I expected the reports in this module to be very similar to my previous essays. Interpretation of quote

“ Communication skills are an essential component in the education of engineering students to facilitate not just students’ education but also to prepare them for their future careers.” Marc Riemer, Faculty of Engineering, Monash University. The main gist of the quote is that the ability to communicate effectively is deemed one of the most valuable skills for engineering students. This skill is then useful not only in education but also in future careers. In terms of education, it is used to communicate ideas with other students during discussion allowing clearer and more precise steps to be taken in group work, and to communicate ideas to others during presentations. This skill is also useful in careers as it is important to be able to communicate clearly about goals or steps to take in the workplace, and can also be useful when trying to propose plans to others in the workplace.
